5 Incredible LED Walls from Around the World

In a world where skyscrapers are taller, shopping malls mirror art exhibits, and each conference center built seems more considerable than the last, video walls have quickly become more of a commonly found commercial feature. Their increased popularity, however, does not mean they are any less impressive, and companies worldwide use these impactful forms of visual design to take their messaging to the next level. We dug deep into the world of video walls and put together a list of 5 over the top examples demonstrating how spectacular these displays really can be.

Wall #1 - Samsung Video Wall at McCarran, Las Vegas

While it is no secret that Samsung is a leader in technological innovation, their video wall at McCarran Airport in Las Vegas, Nevada, is truly a testament to the company's commitment to the future. Made up of 100 460UT-2 LCD large format displays and covering over 627 square feet, this video wall was the largest in the world at the time of its unveiling almost ten years ago.

An installation of this size understandably comes with a price tag to match, and with a value of $570,000 USD, the display was certainly an investment. It is a good thing that following the completion of the project, projections made by an independent third-party estimated that the display would increase the airport's advertising revenue by up to 1 million USD per year. Talk about a gamble that paid off!

Wall #2 - The Big Picture by LG, Suntec City

Singapore is widely recognized as a frontrunner for modernization and luxury, so it comes as no surprise that they choose to partner with none other than LG (hey – we partner with them too!) to bring their monstrous 200-foot vision to life!

This impressive display can be found in Suntec City, a premier exhibition and conference space in South East Asia. "The Big Picture" as dubbed by LG, stands at the entranceway to the lobby, making it impossible to miss. An impressive 664 55" LED LG displays were required to complete the project, and with a pixel count of 32,051 wide by 7,941 high, this video wall projects visuals with a resolution 30 times greater than 4K!

When it was installed in 2013, it set the world record for the largest video wall in the world.

Wall #3 - Stage Backdrop at Theatre Calgary

In the heart of Calgary, Alberta's downtown lies the Historic Theatre Calgary. The theatre is attended by countless people every year and is a frontrunner in providing innovative, engaging, and soulful theatrical content.

Theatre Calgary was searching for an innovative way to enhance their on-stage performances, and what better way to accomplish this than by installing 416 High-Pitch LED Panels to create a 40-foot-wide video wall. This magnificent backdrop takes live production to a new level, and because the display can be controlled using just one button on a centralized panel, audiences can explore the streets of Rome, the jungles of Brazil or take a trip back in time to 19th Century England, all without ever leaving their seats.

2020 presented new challenges for the live events industry that sadly resulted in countless performances being placed on hold. This, however, did not stop Theatre Calgary from moving forward with their immensely popular production of The Christmas Carol. This first-ever digital performance was enhanced by the dynamic capabilities of their high-definition backdrop, and although different from what audiences had seen in the past, Theatre Calgary's 2020 performance created a memorable experience for its viewers, wherever they may have been watching.

Wall #4 - Nexen Media Wall, Seoul

In a stunning collision of art, technology and installation, the famous Korean tire manufacturer Nexen Tire unveiled "The Infinity Wall" in the Nexen univerCity HQ lobby. This LED video wall measures nearly 100 feet wide and displays an array of incredible motion graphics, videos and personalized messages.

A video showcasing the beauty of this installation can be found here. After viewing what this impressive display is capable of, it comes as no surprise that in 2020 this infinity wall won Nexen an iF Design Award and put the manufacturer's Central Research Institute on the map for visitors worldwide.

Wall #5 - LG World Record Video Wall at The Dubai Mall

If you came here looking for the world's most enormous video wall built to-date, you found it! Located in the aquarium at The Dubai Mall, this curved, out-of-this-world display was constructed using 820 LG open frame OLED signage panels. It covers over 7500 square feet of space, and because it is meant to mimic the realistic motions of water, the video wall was strategically installed so that the imagery would appear just like ocean waves.

OLED displays allow for extremely vibrant and crisp content to be projected. While the attraction mainly stands to support the aquarium in The Dubai Mall, this impressive video wall is also used to promote businesses, events and high-profile advertisements.

From a small display inside a restaurant to a massive superstructure on a building's side, video walls have taken the world by storm. It's hard to believe it's even possible to top the amazing designs we have outlined above. Each year, though, comes yet another innovative display that demonstrates how organizations continue to push the boundaries of ultra-high-resolution technology. We think it's safe to say the best has yet to come.
