Project Highlight: Fort William Garden

Fort William Gardens has been a landmark in Thunder Bay since 1951, playing home to NHL games and legendary music acts. Recently, the venue has undergone a modernization project to transform Fort Williams Gardens into a modern venue while preserving the unique history of the building, and Evolution AV was privileged to assist by designing and installing a cutting-edge LED marquee and digital signage in the facility.

The AV Systems

This marquee is comprised of 24 direct view LED panels. These panels feature an IP65 weatherproof rating, and also features waterproof control modules, allowing them to stand up to the harsh northern Ontario winters. Theses panels are also bright enough to maintain their incredible vibrancy in direct sunlight.

Because the marquee isn’t a standard aspect ratio, we’ve installed a Brightsign digital signage player to make it easy to create content for the marquee. Using the included BrightAuthor software, staff can easily update the marquee with upcoming events or promotions, or schedule specific messaging to appear at certain times or event days.

A similar system has been installed inside of the venue. Using 12 YESTECH LED panels, Fort William gardens can display ticketing information or announcements inside of the venue, such as warnings that events are selling out, box office hours, or arena schedules. These are connected to another BrightSign signage player: which can be centrally managed alongside the marquee.

We’re proud to have invited to work on this historic Thunder Bay landmark, providing a much needed facelift and many more years of great entertainment. For more information or to see what’s on at Fort Wi;lliam Gardens, visit tickets.thunderbay.ca.
