Tech Tuesday: Lumens DC-W80 Wireless Document Camera
This week on Tech Tuesday, we’re taking a look at the evolution (pardon the pun) of the everyday classroom staple: the document camera. With multiple modes of connectivity and built in Wi-Fi, the Lumens DC-W80 redefines the capabilities of a document camera.
Capturing the Finest Details
The DC-W80 features an extremely high quality camera. It has a 13-megapixel sensor that can output 4K resolution at up to 30 frames per second, and features a lens with 3.4x optical zoom. If that’s not enough, the camera can also digitally zoom in for a total of 30x zoom—not quite microscopic, but getting pretty close! The camera system also features both auto and manual focus, which easily allows for crisp images, or tweaking the focus for use as a webcam.
Flipping Fantastic
The camera functions extremely well as a document camera, but that’s not the only trick up it’s sleeve. The DC-W80 has a hinged head that allows it to be used as a webcam or conferencing camera! With the wireless portability of the Lumens, it can also easily be used as a whiteboard camera in conjunction with the whiteboard sharing function of Zoom or Microsoft Teams.
Multiple Connectivity Options
The Lumens DC-W80 features multiple options to display the image from the camera. The camera features an HDMI out, for easy display directly to a projector, television or interactive display. The camera can also be connected to a computer using either a USB Type B cable, or using the built-in Wi-Fi! Lumens has also developed a software suite that includes utilities to crop or mask the camera's image, and can record audio and video from the camera.
