Tech Tuesday - TOA IR-800 Classroom Audio Solution
In this Tech Tuesday, we look at the IR800 Infrared Classroom Audio Solution from our partners at TOA. This discreet and effective audio solution offers crystal clear communication within a classroom setting, regardless of a student’s location in the space or any hearing impairment challenges an individual may face.
How it Works
Three components make up the IR800 system, the in-ceiling speaker, receiver and amplifier unit, the desktop tuner and the lightweight IR wireless microphones.
Integration begins with the in-ceiling speaker, receiver and amplifier unit, which get installed in a central location in the classroom. Following installation, the unit gets connected to the second component, the IR-802T (infrared tuner/mixer), which gets installed in a discreet, yet easily accessible location. The third and final component, the microphones, are used during instructions by both the student and teacher as a handheld device or worn around the neck for hands-free operation. Once integrated, the IR-800 system provides uniform audio distribution throughout the entire classroom.
For larger spaces, TOA offers the IR-800 Plus, which, in addition to what is included within the standard system, provides the following features:
Larger room coverage (30 ft x 60 ft coverage compared to 30 ft x 30 ft coverage)
Compatible with combinable rooms; 2 connected 30 ft x 30 ft rooms or separation; 2 separate,unique 30 ft x 30 ft rooms
Up to 4 active microphones for a combination of teachers, students, and assistants.
Priority override on all microphones, including teachers
