Tech Tuesday: Yealink A10

This week on Tech Tuesday, we’re taking a look at the smallest video bar in the Yealink MeetingBar Series! We’ve talked a lot about video bars from Yealink over the last little while, and they’ve worked great for us, but there’s always been a bit of a hole in their product line: something small, simple and affordable to enable Microsoft Teams Rooms or Zoom Rooms in huddle spaces. Now they have, and we’ve gotten hands on with it: the Yealink A10.

At first glance, the A10 is checking off all the boxes. It features an 8 Microphone array, which makes for great sound and fantastic noise cancellation—the same as its larger brothers, the A20 and A30. It also brings over the same 120 degree FOV on its camera. This wide FOV makes it perfect for small spaces, as does the A10’s compact size (it’s just over half of the size of the A20.)

The mounting options for the A10 have also been reworked. The A10 features a built-in display top mount, and a standard ¼ inch tripod mount. The display top mount also provides some really cool flexibility when it comes to designing video conferencing systems.

Using the A10 to build a Video Conferencing System

The Yealink A10 integrated with a LOFT D3 Interactive Display.

The A10 can easily be used in a cart-mounted conferencing system. This is a great add-on if you already have an interactive display, and it’s incredibly cost effective. Simply connect the A10 to the interactive display using a USB and HDMI cable. This allows you to use the interactive display as a controller for the meeting room, and is a great option for brainstorming spaces, huddle rooms, or common areas where you’d like to have a flexible, mobile video conferencing system.

The A10 also supports Yealink’s latest Wireless Presentation Pod, the WPP30. This provides maximum flexibility—letting users join meetings through native Zoom or Microsoft Teams interfaces, or by connecting the A10’s camera and microphone to their own laptops wirelessly.

Limitations of the A10

There are a few areas where the A10 falls short of its larger siblings. The A10 carries over the Auto Framing and Speaker Tracking of the A20, but does not support the picture in picture or multi-focus framing modes.

However, for Zoom Rooms, the A10 makes use of Zoom’s “Smart Gallery” feature, which displays a frame of the entire room as well as the two most recent speakers, making it easier to follow conversations and convey body language in hybrid meetings.

In Conclusion

All in all, this is a great addition to Yealink’s quickly expanding video conferencing lineup, and makes for a great addition to small conferencing spaces for up to 6 people. Keeping the Wireless BYOD features gives the A10 a ton of versatility for use cases, and its’ compact size allowing for easy cart-mounted conferencing make the A10 a great choice for adding Teams Room capability to a variety of spaces.
