Tech Tuesday - Samsung QBR Commercial Display
Welcome back to Tech Tuesday! Our featured partner this week is one who needs no introduction (but we’ll give them one anyways). Samsung has been a global leader in technology development for over 30 years, and they’ve brought their history or innovation along to this: the Samsung QBR Series Signage.
Not Your Average TV
The QBR’s first impression is very unassuming: with a completely unbranded case and minimal bezels, the display appears to only be a black panel—that it, until you turn it on. Samsung has developed two pieces of technology that evolve the QBR beyond the average TV.
The first is their Crystal Processor 4K technology, which uses “smart” scaling to optimize lower resolution content for the 4K UHD display. Using edge restoration and noise reduction, the display can dynamically adjust the scaling for text clarity or image detail.
The QBR Series also features Dynamic Crystal Display with HDR+ compatibility. Using 10 bit color processing, the QBR can show 1.07 billion shades of color, and can convert standard images and videos to HDR quality for more vivid and engaging content.
Business In The Front…
Although the front panel looks very simple, the design of the back sets the QBR apart from the average TV. Designed to be as unobtrusive as possible, the QBR features built-in cable guides running along the back of the display. allowing for a clean and visually appealing appearance on a wall, and makes it easy to place the cables inside a raceway. Additionally, the symmetrical side profile of the display and side-mounted power inlet allow the display to sit almost perfectly flush against the wall.
Party on the Backend
Behind all the features of the QBR is Samsung’s Tizen series System on Chip (SoC). This allows the display to run Samsung’s Workspace software, which can provide secure cloud access to any PC, Office 365 documents, and VMWare virtual machines, all without any additional hardware. For signage applications, the QBR series can be used with Samsung’s MagicINFO signage software, which can be used to easily manage large amounts of signage, including interactive signage with web content.
